I decided to browse through different cities for odd items posted for sale on Craigslist. I did this in an earlier post and found some odd things for sale, so it wasn’t very difficult to find more. Here are a few of my favorites…
Apparently, it is so easy to post and sell on Craigslist that even creepy dolls can do it…
The text reads: “I am looking for a new mommy to adopt me. I am very sweet and about 15″ tall. I have longer red hair and blue eyes and I’m wearing a really cute little prairie dress with lace trim with a matching bonnet. I have white pantaloons on (long underwear) and white leather shoes. I have a porcelain face and arms but have a cloth body so u can hug me. I also can be wound and play a song. Play with me or put be on my doll stand so you can look at me, but just love me! $20.00”
Very strange. I like how it is spoken in the first person from the doll’s perspective. It is actually kind of depressing. I feel bad for the doll because she has been forced to sell her body for $20 on Craigslist. She would probably have a better chance in Casual Encounters, however.
Next up, used (very used) Shaq shoes…
Gross. Used shoes. Only $10.
I know it is very common to see used shoes for sale in thrift shops and a lot of people do post used shoes on Craigslist. However, the shoes are usually in better condition.
Also, the used shoes will usually be some expensive designer shoe that someone bought and wore once, then use Craigslist to try to recover some of the money they spent on the expensive designer shoes. The thing I find odd about this post is that most Shaq shoes cost only $20 – $25 brand new in the store. These obviously look pretty dirty and worn. I think I would rather save up the extra $15 to buy them brand new! Again, gross.
Next, creepy clown memorabilia…
I searched for “clown” in a popular U.S. city (rhymes with Mas Legas). A lot of results appeared, but these two posts caught my attention. The statue above is a 5 1/2 ft. life-size figure of a sad clown playing the violin. The ad suggested that this statue would be good to have in your house. If my interior decorator (if I had one) decided to put that thing in my house, I would fire him/her on the spot and suggest they watch a week’s worth of HGTV.
The clowns above, well, I’m not sure what those things are. It looks like they might come to life while you are away. I don’t care what they are, I would not want them on my shelf.
I know people list snakes, lizards and other small reptiles for sale on Craigslist, but I have never seen alligators for sale (or crocodiles?).
Looking at those photos, I’m not sure if I would like to show up at this person’s house to buy these things. Where is the mother alligator? Did the mother of these gators post this ad the same way the creepy doll posted her own ad? I guess selling alligators on Craigslist isn’t too strange, I just found it a bit odd that the ad was posted in the Garage & Moving Sales section.
“I am moving and need to get rid of some stuff! For sale, I have a couch and love seat, a 26″ Sony flatscreen TV, a bookshelf and a handful of alligators! Everything must go!”
That is all for now. I’m sure I will find more odd or strange Craigslist ads. When I do, I will post another blog. If you found this blog post funny (or not funny), please share it!
