I usually keep my account logged in all day as I post and re-post items for sale on Craigslist.
Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that Craigslist has automatically been signing my account out, which can be frustrating if you are in the middle of a post.
There have been a few times where I have typed out a long, detailed, keyword-filled description of the item with the perfect title, only to click the “Continue” button and be presented with the log-in screen.
Ad Was Not Saved
I then saw my hand frantically clicking the back button on my browser hoping it saved the text. Unfortunately, Craigslist did not save the text because it logged me out while I was typing.
I haven’t noticed an exact time that it signs me out, but it is always between 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM Central time.
I don’t know if it signs me out after the account has been logged in for a certain amount of time, or if it goes through and logs everyone out to kick out possible “robots” or software that may be automatically posting to CL.
Either way, it can be frustrating to spend time creating a great description, only to get kicked out, then try to remember everything you just typed.
So, the point of this blog post is to give you a heads up about this situation. I probably made it seem a lot worse than it actually is.
Just make sure you click “My Account” before you post an item if your account has been signed in for awhile. Then you can be sure that your account is actually signed in before you create your Craigslist post.

So if you get signed out, it’s easy to just log back in to your account. It’s just a mild annoyance. Leave a comment below if you have any questions.
